Pre-Pointe – No dancer should be put “on pointe” without taking an actual pre-pointe class, in which they not only build the strength and control to dance safely in pointe shoes, but also are taught how to choose, fit, purchase and maintain their shoes for themselves.
Beginning Acting (a new approach, with a new instructor….even if you’ve taken our acting 1.0 class, you will get a lot out of this one too)
Production – yes, everyone’s favorite class, where you get to be the director!
Creative Movement – 5-6yr old class and 3-4yr old class, instructors Shayna Broussard and Rachel Vander Molen
Movement, Rhythm and Song – Performing Arts introduction for 7-8 yr olds, instructor Meghan Sheridan.
YOGA – teens and adults.  Dancers, non-dancers, athletes and couch potatoes:  join us for this relaxing, centering class.  Instructor Elizabeth Satterly will guide us through the different poses, explain how each one benefits our bodies, and also offer modifications for the physical ability and agility of each student.
Beginning Violin – a beginner level class, this is a perfect introduction to this beautiful instrument.  We are excited to offer Suzuki violin training in a group setting.  The class syllabus has been specially written to offer students quality training, encouraging them to strive for excellence in technique as they explore creatively the musical possibilities of this most expressive instrument.  Instructor Lilly Wang’s deep passion and love of the violin is contagious and we are quite blessed to have her joining our teaching staff.  This class is limited to 8 students, ages 9 and up.  Parents are also welcome to take the class along with their children.

The Home School Cottage (Broussard) is announcing the following art class:
Masterpiece of the Month:
January – Georgia O’Keeffe
Four week study of Georgia O’Keeffe and her art. January 6, 13, 20, and 27.
Students will expand realistic drawing ability to include drawing enlargements using pencil, liquid, and solid watercolors. The color wheel will be used to identify complimentary colors in final product. Final product will be completed on a canvas.
Supplies: Water colors (liquid, solid, and pencils) will be provided for use in class. Students will bring home art created on watercolor paper for first three weeks and canvas on last week.
Age – No younger than five. Depends on attention span. If student is interested in drawing/painting, they will have fun.
We will take enlarged photos of flowers and draw them. This is fun and always amazed at finished products. As long as they listen and let others listen.
In the following months, we could cover: Vincent van Gogh, Thomas Sully, Henry Matisse, or Albrecht Durer, etc.
One requirement for students: go to library and check out at least one book that has art from the artist we are covering. Have something to share with class. Maybe the student’s favorite picture by artist or share about the life of the author.
Art Teacher: Nancy Hocutt
